Syntypes: NMW 29504 (3). Species illustrated and described in more detail in Steindachner 1893:232 [ref. 14536]. Not preoccupied by Gobius longicaudus Jenkins & Evermann 1889 (personal communication, David G. Smith, July 2015). •Synonym of Oxyurichthys microlepis (Bleeker 1849) -- (Wu in Pan et al. 1991:471 [ref. 23876], Kottelat 2013:415 [ref. 32989]). •Synonym of Oxyurichthys uronema (Weber 1909) -- (Pezold & Larson 2015:6, 81 [ref. 33894]). •Valid as Oxyurichthys longicauda (Steindachner 1893) -- (Larson in Randall & Lim 2000:639 [ref. 25122], Larson & Pezold 2016:171 [ref. 34151], Larson 2022:165 [ref. 39971], Zarei et al. 2022:373 [ref. 39576]). Current status: Valid as Oxyurichthys longicauda (Steindachner 1893). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Indo-West Pacific: India east to Indonesia, north to Vietnam and southern China, south to northern Australia. Habitat: brackish, marine.
