See Marceniuk & Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:448 [ref. 27061] for problems with the type and with family placement. •Valid as Paradiplomystes coruscans (Lichtenstein 1819) -- (Burgess 1989:168 [ref. 12860]). •Questionably a synonym of Bagre bagre (Linnaeus 1766) -- (Marceniuk & Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:448 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:37 [ref. 29155]). •Species inquirenda -- (Marceniuk & Menezes 2007:31 [ref. 29031]). •Synonym of Hemisorubim platyrhynchos Valenciennes 1840 or Iheringichthys labrosus (Lütken 1874) -- (Litz & Koerber 2014:18 [ref. 33622]). •Synonym of Hemisorubim platyrhynchos (Valenciennes 1840) -- (Kailola 2004:144 [ref. 28108] on personal communications but apparently with wrong type, Mirande & Koerber 2015:31 [ref. 35117] with question, Koerber et al. 2017:47 [ref. 35267] with question, Grant 2021:65 [ref. 38702] with question). Current status: Synonym of Hemisorubim platyrhynchos (Valenciennes 1840). Pimelodidae. Habitat: freshwater.
