Type catalog: Collette et al. 1992:10-11 [ref. 19410]. •Synonym of Hemiramphus convexus (Weber & de Beaufort 1922), subspecies bruuni Parin, Collette & Shcherbachev 1980 -- (Collette 2004:13, 24 [ref. 27583]). •Synonym of Oxyporhamphus convexus (Weber & de Beaufort 1922), but a valid subspecies as described -- (Dor 1984:63 [ref. 29757], Collette et al. 1992:11 [ref. 19410], Goren & Dor 1994:16 [ref. 25356], Manilo & Bogorodsky 2003:S100 [ref. 27377], Collette 2022:369 [ref. 39718]). •Valid as Oxyporhamphus bruuni (Parin, Collette & Shcherbachev 1980) -- (Golani & Fricke 2018:42 [ref. 36273]). Current status: Valid as Oxyporhamphus bruuni Parin, Collette & Shcherbachev 1980. Hemiramphidae. Distribution: Red Sea; northwestern Indian Ocean: Gulf of Aden east to northwestern India. Habitat: marine.
