Lectotype selected by Sasaki & Kimura 2014:17 [ref. 33189]. •Synonym of Allanetta afra (Peters 1855) -- (Dor 1984:67 [ref. 29757]). •Synonym of Hypoatherina temminckii (Bleeker 1854) -- (Ivantsoff & Crowley 1999:2136 [ref. 24783]). •Valid as Hypoatherina gobio (Klunzinger 1884) -- (Sasaki & Kimura 2014:15 [ref. 33189], Bogorodsky & Randall 2018:[4] 242 [ref. 36492], Golani & Fricke 2018:44 [ref. 36273], Kimura 2022:333 [ref. 39715]).
