A.] 1827:5, Pl. 3 [American ichthyology, or natural history of the fishes of North America, with coloured figures executed from nature.; ref. 17524] In a cave formed by the rapid current and secluded from the rays of the sun...to the Lamotte mine in Missouri, U.S.A. No types known. •Status uncertain -- (Lee et al. 1980:23 [ref. 22416], Smith 1986:40 [ref. 22186]). •Valid as Lampetra lamottenii (Lesueur 1827) -- (McAllister 1990:26 [ref. 14674]). •Valid as Lampetra lamottei [sic] (Lesueur 1827) -- (Scott & Crossman 1998:62 [ref. 24570]). •Not treated as valid in Page & Burr 2011 [ref. 31215]. •Questionably the same as Lethenteron appendix (DeKay 1842) -- (Renaud 2011:68 [ref. 31770]). Current status: Synonym of Lethenteron appendix (DeKay 1842). Petromyzontidae. Distribution: Canada, Alaska and northern mainland U.S.A. [if treated as valid]. Habitat: freshwater.
