Parabalistes (subgenus of Balistes) Bleeker [P.] 1865:Pl. 225 Masc. Balistes chrysospilos Bleeker 1853. Type by monotypy. Apparently dates to Pl. 225 in Atlas (1865); corresponding text (pp. 98, 110) not published until 1869; also in Bleeker 1866:10 [ref. 417]. A second species was figured with question on Pl. 231 on same date; type by monotypy (type also designated in 1866:10 [ref. 417] and in corresponding text in 1869). Original spelling of species is chrysospilos, subsequently changed by Bleeker to chrysospilus. •Valid as Parabalistes Bleeker 1865 -- (Sahayak et al. 2014:25 [ref. 37751]). •Uncertain in family Balistidae. •Synonym of Pseudobalistes Bleeker 1865 -- (Parenti 2021:655 [ref. 38921]). Apparently dates to Pl. 218 and Pl. 225 (1865, in part 19), with type as flavimarginatus of Bleeker = Balistes flavimarginatus Rüppell 1829; viridescens appears in Pl. 231 (part 20); corresponding text (99, 110) not published until 1869.
