Kottelat 2000:83 [ref. 25486] regards the gender as feminine. •Synonym of Notopterus Lacepède 1800 -- (Roberts 1989:24 [ref. 6439]). •Valid as Chitala Fowler 1934 -- (Roberts 1992:364 [ref. 20012], Hilton 2003:90 [ref. 26584], Ataur Rahman 2003:260 [ref. 31338], Kottelat 2013:31 [ref. 32989]). Glanis Gronow [L. T.] in Gray 1854:135 Masc. Glanis imberbis Gronow 1854. Type by monotypy. Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Glanis Agassiz 1829 in fishes; apparently based on a species of Notopterus. •Synonym of Notopterus Lacepède 1800 -- (Kottelat 2013:32 [ref. 32989] with question). 1°Homonym.
