Agenor Castelnau 1879 is a junior homonym of Agenor Risso 1827 (Crustacea: Branchiura) [see ref. 3757, v. 5]. •Synonym of Scorpis Valenciennes 1832 based on placement of type species -- (Hoese & Bray 2006:1326 [ref. 29000])> 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Scorpis Valenciennes 1832. Scorpididae.

Bathystethus Gill [T. N.] 1893:123 Masc. Cichla cultrata Bloch & Schneider 1801. Type by being a replacement name. Replacement for Platystethus Günther 1860, preoccupied by Platystethus Mannerheim 1831 in Coleoptera. •Valid as Bathystethus Gill 1893 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:567 [ref. 12442], Hoese & Bray 2006:1319 [ref. 29000] with type as Sciaena cultrata Forster 1801, Trnski & Knudsen 2015:1325 [ref. 34205]). Current status: Valid as Bathystethus Gill 1893. Scorpididae.

Caesiosoma Bleeker [P.] (ex Kaup) 1876:299 Neut. Caesiosoma sieboldi Bleeker 1876. Caesiosoma appeared first in Kaup 1863:161 [ref. 2584] (needs research). Type proposed as, "Spec. typ. Caesiosoma sieboldi Kp. (nom. manuscr.) = Scorpis aequipinnis Rich.?" Description perhaps validates the species name sieboldi, and type is by monotypy (only one species definitely included). Current status: Uncertain. Scorpididae.

Cypselichthys Steindachner [F.] & Döderlein [L.] 1883:124 Masc. Cypselichthys japonicus Steindachner & Döderlein 1883. Type by monotypy. Genus described in more detail in Steindachner & Döderlein 1883:14 [ref. 4247]. •Status uncertain. Current status: Uncertain. Scorpididae.

Juvenella Whitley [G. P.] 1948:90 Fem. Juvenella carangoides Whitley 1948. Type by original designation (also monotypic). Described as a carangid. Appears to be a juvenile Scorpis lineolatus (Paxton, pers. comm., based on examination of holotype), and therefore a junior synonym of Scorpis Valenciennes 1832. •Synonym of Scorpis Valencienes 1832 based on placement of type species -- (Hoese & Bray 2006:1326 [ref. 29000]). Current status: Synonym of Scorpis Valenciennes 1832. Scorpididae.

Objectively invalid; preoccupied by Platystethus Mannerheim 1831 in Coleoptera, replaced by Bathystethus Gill 1893. •Objective synonym of Bathystethus Gill 1893 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:567 [ref. 12442], Hoese & Bray 2006:1319 [ref. 29000], with type as Sciaena cultrata Forster 1801). 1°Homonym.
