Elagatis Bennett [F. D.] 1840:283 Fem. Elagatis bipinnulatus Bennett 1840. Type by monotypy. Type usually given as Seriola bipinnulata Quoy & Gaimard 1825, but Bennett treats only "Elagatis Bipinnulatus, n. sp."; names were selected independently, but are treated as synonyms.
