Chromis Günther [A.] 1862:267 Fem. Apparently a redefinition and not intended as a new genus, since "Chromis, pt., Cuv. Règne Anim." is given in the synonymy. Also objectively invalid; preoccupied by Chromis Cuvier 1814 in fishes. •Synonym of Tilapia Smith 1840. 1°Homonym. Current status: Synonym of Tilapia Smith 1840. Cichlidae: Pseudocrenilabrinae.
