Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. Genus should have been spelled Aphredoderus. Name appeared first as a nomen nudum in Jordan 1877:368 [ref. 2373]. Subspecies intergrade. Holotype once USNM 9296 (poor condition) now lost. Neotype designated by Muller & Simons 2024:91 [ref. 40853]. •Synonym of Aphredoderus sayanus (Gilliams 1824) as a subspecies intergrade -- (Poly 2004:2, 3 [ref. 27585]). •Valid as Aphredoderus mesotrema (Jordan 1877) -- (Muller & Simons 2024:89 [ref. 40853]).
