Appeared first in footnote in Cuvier 1829:168 [ref. 995] but as Ap. alatus, but Ap. tied to a vernacular "Les Apistes" and not to a Latinized generic name. Species name misspelled aplatus by Cuvier 1831:123 [ref. 30376]. •Synonym of Apistus carinatus (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Dor 1984:81 [ref. 29757], Lindberg & Krasyukova 1987:94 [ref. 15964], Allen et al. 2006:894 [ref. 29066]).
