Regarded as a replacement name for (and objective synonym of) Cirrhites fasciatus Bennett 1828, not of Cuvier & Valenciennes 1829; but apparently Bennett's description was published before that of Cuvier; Cuvier's name should have been replaced (and was later replaced by Amblycirrhitus indicus Fowler 1938). •Synonym of Cirrhitops fasciatus (Bennett 1828) -- (Randall 1963:420 [ref. 3599], Fricke 1999:352 [ref. 24106], Mundy 2005:415 [ref. 28379], Randall 2007:202 [ref. 30952], Randall & Schultz 2008:15 [ref. 29982]).
