Lectotype selected by Roberts 1972 [ref. 12567]. •Valid as Ellopostoma megalomycter (Vaillant 1902) -- (Roberts 1989:103 [ref. 6439], Kottelat et al. 1993:51 [ref. 23448], Bănărescu & Nalbant 1995:460 [ref. 23187], Doi 1997:18 [ref. 22832], Tan & Lim 2002:456 [ref. 26708], Kottelat & Widjanarti 2005:156 [ref. 28284], Bohlen & Šlechtová 2009:157 [ref. 30419], Kottelat 2012:43 [ref. 32367]). Current status: Valid as Ellopostoma megalomycter (Vaillant 1902). Ellopostomatidae. Distribution: Peninsular Malaysia and western Borneo (Indonesia). Habitat: freshwater.

Holotype: CAS 96698. Paratypes: CAS 60816 (6), 68203 (14), 93382 (7), 96698 (44); CMK 5166 (10); ZRC 37580 (2), 47340 (5). •Valid as Ellopostoma mystax Tan & Lim 2002 -- (Bohlen & Slechtova 2009:157 [ref. 30419], Chen et al. 2009:2201 [ref. 30698] in a new family Ellopostomidae, Chen et al. 2009:2201 [ref. 30698] in a new family Ellopostomida, Kottelat 2012:43 [ref. 32367], Kottelat 2013:184 [ref. 32989]). Current status: Valid as Ellopostoma mystax Tan & Lim 2002. Ellopostomatidae. Distribution: Tapi River basin, Thailand. Habitat: freshwater.
