Holotype: QM I.37271. Paratypes: (41) at CSIRO, NTM, QM, UW, WAM. •Valid as Dibrachichthys melanurus Pietsch, Johnson & Arnold 2009 -- (Larson et al. 2013:54 [ref. 32988]). Current status: Valid as Dibrachichthys melanurus Pietsch, Johnson & Arnold 2009. Tetrabrachiidae. Distribution: Queensland, Northern Territory to Western Australia and the Aru Islands, Indonesia. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): BMNH 1879.5.14.618. •Valid as Tetrabrachium ocellatum Günther 1880 -- (Allen & Swainston 1988:38 [ref. 25477], Paxton et al. 1989:281 [ref. 12442], Allen 1997:62 [ref. 23977], Pietsch 1999:2017 [ref. 24766], Hutchins 2001:22 [ref. 25847], Allen et al. 2006:646 [ref. 29066], Pietsch et al. 2009:483 [ref. 30380], Larson et al. 2013:55 [ref. 32988]). Current status: Valid as Tetrabrachium ocellatum Günther 1880. Tetrabrachiidae. Distribution: Australia and New Guinea. Habitat: marine.
