Corrected type locality is from ZMUC records, courtesy of Tammes Menne through W. Smith-Vaniz, 1 Apr. 2011. •Valid as Acyrtops amplicirrus Briggs 1955 -- (Cervigón 1991:202 [ref. 24472], Johnson & Greenfield 1983:335 [ref. 28991], Briggs 2002:443 [ref. 26018], McEachran 2003:1774 [ref. 27089], Nelson et al. 2004:167 [ref. 27807], Page et al. 2013:172 [ref. 32708], Smith-Vaniz & Jelks 2014:72 [ref. 33341]). Distribution: Western Atlantic: Florida (U.S.A.) south to southeastern Brazil, including Caribbean Sea. IUCN (2015): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.

[One of the paratypes was to be deposited at USNM.] •Valid as Rimicola brevis Briggs 1969 -- (McEachran 2003:1774 [ref. 27089]). •Synonym of Acyrtops amplicirrus Briggs 1955 -- (Briggs 2002:443 [ref. 26018]). Current status: Synonym of Acyrtops amplicirrus Briggs 1955. Gobiesocidae: Gobiesocinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic. Habitat: marine.
