Steindachner [F.] 1880:56 [4] [Denkschriften der Kaiserlichen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Wien, Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Classe. v. 42; ref. 14403] Río Cauca, Colombia. Holotype (unique): NMW. On p. 4 of separate. Appeared in German as "All specimens collected by Mr. Grosskopf in the Cauca belong to the variety Var. latifrons (better var. brevirostris) described by me." Not treated by Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:608 [ref. 27061]. •Apparently an unneeded replacement for and objective synonym of Acara latifrons Steindachner 1878.; if regarded as a conditional proposal, then the name is unavailable. •In the synonymy of Andinoacara latifrons (Steindachner 1878) -- (Schindler & Morgenstern 2010:116 [ref. 31245], Wijkmark et al. 2012:118 [ref. 32299]). Current status: Synonym of Andinoacara latifrons (Steindachner 1878). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Habitat: freshwater.
