Benjamin Chase, Natchez (probably lost). Original genus should have been Lepisosteus; spelled Chasei on p. 333 and Chaseii on p. 337. Undescribed dark phase of the alligator gar, or the species now called L. productus Cope [= Lepisosteus oculatus Winchell 1864] (Cook 1959:60 [ref. 24088]). •Probably a synonym of [Atractosteus] Lepisosteus spatula Lacepède 1803 -- (W.
