Holotype: USNM 93434. Paratypes: USNM 93466 (1). Type catalog: Smith 1994:7 [ref. 21917]. •Valid as Rhechias thysanochila (Reid 1934) -- (Smith 1989:536 [ref. 13285], Smith 1989:753 [ref. 13285]). •Valid as Bathycongrus thysanochilus (Reid 1934) -- (Smith 2003:750 [ref. 26989], Karmovskaya 2011:422 [ref. 31456], Page et al. 2023:56 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Bathycongrus thysanochilus (Reid 1934). Congridae: Congrinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic. Habitat: marine.
