Lectotype selected by Caldwell & Randall 1966:36 [ref. 9053]; Howell Rivero indicates that MCZ 21849 is the holotype but that specimen is too small (Caldwell & Randall 1966:36 [ref. 9053]). Lectotype found (pers. comm. K. Hartel, 9/09). •Synonym of Calamus calamus (Valenciennes 1830) -- (Smith-Vaniz et al. 1999:267 [ref. 25013], Parenti 2019:75 [ref. 36892]). Current status: Synonym of Calamus calamus (Valenciennes 1830). Sparidae. Habitat: marine.
