Current status: Synonym of Callechelys springeri (Ginsburg 1951). Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae. Habitat: marine. springeri, Gordiichthys Ginsburg [I.] 1951:484, Fig. 16 [Texas Journal of Science v. 3 (no. 3); ref. 1804] Off Salerno, Florida, U.S.A., depth 18 fathoms (stomach content). Holotype (unique): USNM 121604.
