Type catalog: Howell Rivero 1938:205 [ref. 22926]. Spelled amplexicollis in Poey 1875:137 [ref. 3509]. Possibly prevailing usage can be used to retain the spelling amplexicollis. •Synonym of Chaetodon ocellatus Bloch 1787 -- (Burgess 1978:733 [ref. 700] with question and as amplexicollis, Allen 1980:159 [ref. 22764] as amplexicollis).
