Based on the 'Rabirrubia genizarra' of Parra 1787:44, Pl. 21 (fig. 1) [ref. 6840]. Thes spelling parrae is acceptable as early workers almost certainly Latinized the name first, and then added an "e" (Art. 31.1.1) [WNE, 12 Mar. 2012]. •Valid as Clepticus parrae (Bloch & Schneider 1801) -- (Robins & Ray 1986:202 [ref. 23100] as parrai, Cervigón 1992:345 [ref. 23827] as parrai, Cervigón 1993:400 [ref. 24474], Gomon 1997:816 [ref. 23083], Smith-Vaniz et al. 1999:291 [ref. 25013], Parenti & Randall 2000:13 [ref. 24943], Schmitter-Soto et al. 2000:164 [ref. 27754], Heiser et al. 2000:75 [ref. 25763], Collette et al. 2003:114 [ref. 26784], Westneat 2003:1708 [ref. 27105], Smith et al. 2003:43 [ref. 27621], Nelson et al. 2004:155 [ref. 27807], McEachran & Fechhelm 2005:510 [ref. 28815], Kuiter 2010:18 [ref. 35285], Page et al. 2013:159 [ref. 32708], Smith-Vaniz & Jelks 2014:62 [ref. 33341], Robertson et al. 2016:147 [ref. 34961]). Type catalog: Bauchot 1963:22-23 [ref. 19171] in which the 1839 name is treated as the original, with 3 lots from Martinique as syntypes. New name for Brama parrae Bloch & Schneider 1801. Based on the 'Rabirrubia genizara' of Parra 1787:44, Pl. 21 (fig. 1) [ref. 6840].
