Type catalog: Fricke 1995:13 [ref. 28100] with SMNS 761 as a syntype, but he correctly treated the name as a replacement for Lembus maculatus, Fricke 2005:36 [ref. 29864]. "The specific name must be altered, if Lembus maculatus and Sciaena maculata, Bl., are referred to the same genus." Described from 4 specimens, but should be regarded as a replacement name for Lembus maculatus Günther 1859 with apparently a unique holotype BMNH 1860.6.16.131. •Synonym of Gobiomorus lateralis (Gill 1860) -- (Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:660 [ref. 27061]). •Objective Synonym of Gobiomorus maculatus (Günther 1859) because Eleotris lembus is a replacement name for Lembus maculatus Günther 1859 -- (Parenti 2021:44 [ref. 38603]).
