poeyi, Hemirhamphus Günther [A.] (ex Poey) 1866:262 [Catalogue of the fishes in the British Museum v. 6; ref. 1983] Havana, Cuba. No types known. Original genus is correctly Hemiramphus. Based on Hemirhamphus fasciatus of Poey (not Bleeker). •Synonym of Hyporhamphus unifasciatus (Ranzani 1841) -- (Collette 2004:12 [ref. 27583]). Current status: Synonym of Hyporhamphus unifasciatus (Ranzani 1841). Hemiramphidae. Habitat: brackish, marine.

tricuspidatus, Hyporhamphus Gill [T. N.] 1859:131 [Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia v. 11; ref. 1759] Barbados, West Indies. Syntypes: (2) USNM 3407 (1). Type catalog: Collette et al. 1992:10 [ref. 19410] with a holotype. Two specimens were included in the original description. •Synonym of Hyporhamphus unifasciatus (Ranzani 1841) -- (Collette et al. 1992:10 [ref. 19410], Collette 2004:12 [ref. 27583]).
