Holotype (unique): USNM 231726 [ex USNM 260470-F1 and UMML 16162]. •Valid as Idiastion kyphos Eschmeyer 1965 -- (Eschmeyer 1969:53 [ref. 1274], Anderson et al. 1975 [ref. 7056], Ishida & Amaoka 1992:357 [ref. 19515], Mandrytsa 1993:198 [ref. 20724], Mandrytsa 2001:277 [ref. 25636], Poss & Eschmeyer 2003:1241 [ref. 27048], Moura & Menezes in Menezes et al. 2003:72 [ref. 27192] dated 1964, McCosker 2008:122 [ref. 29639], Okamoto et al. 2012:5 [ref. 32019], Poss 2016:2262 [ref. 34610]). Current status: Valid as Idiastion kyphos Eschmeyer 1965. Scorpaenidae: Scorpaeninae. Distribution: Western Atlantic. Habitat: marine.
