Holotype: MCZ 48658. Paratypes: MCZ 48659 (orig. 20, now 11 or 14, 3 c&s), 54390 (89, 3 c&s); USNM [ex MCZ 48659] (5). •Valid as Iotabrycon praecox Roberts 1973 -- (Weitzman & Burns 1997:141 [ref. 24512], Weitzman in Reis et al. 2003:225 [ref. 27061], Barriga Salazar 2014:109 [ref. 35745], Jiménez-Prado et al. 2015:143 [ref. 34894], Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893]). Current status: Valid as Iotabrycon praecox Roberts 1973. Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: Ecuador. Habitat: freshwater.
