Holotype: BMNH 1936.8.26.1047. Paratype: BMNH 1936.8.26.1046 (1). •Valid as Maynea microphthalmus (Norman 1937) -- (Gosztonyi 1977:221 [ref. 6103] as microphthalma). •Valid as Letholycus microphthalmus (Norman 1937) -- (Anderson 1988:273 [ref. 6334], Anderson 1994:117 [ref. 21438], Anderson & Fedorov 2004:14 [ref. 27603], Balushkin et al. 2011:977 [ref. 32449]). Current status: Valid as Letholycus microphthalmus (Norman 1937). Zoarcidae: Lycodinae. Distribution: Western South Atlantic. Habitat: marine.
