Holotype: MZUSP 8014. Paratypes: MZUSP 8015-17 (3), 8018-19 (2), 8020 (1). 8021-29 (9). •Valid as Lonchopisthus meadi Menezes & Figueiredo 1971 -- (Moura & Menezes in Menezes et al. 2003:78 [ref. 27192]). •Synonym of Lonchopisthus lemur (Myers 1935) -- (Smith-Vaniz 1997:1075 [ref. 22985], Smith-Vaniz & Walsh 2017:73 [ref. 35628]). Current status: Synonym of Lonchopisthus lemur (Myers 1935). Opistognathidae. Habitat: marine.

Holotype (unique): USNM 93459. •Valid as Lonchopisthus lemur (Myers 1935) -- (Cervigón 1994:13 [ref. 24488], Smith-Vaniz 1997:1075 [ref. 22985], Smith-Vaniz 2003:1378 [ref. 27083], Smith-Vaniz & Walsh 2017:73 [ref. 35628], Carvalho-Filho 2023:218 [ref. 40480]). Current status: Valid as Lonchopisthus lemur (Myers 1935). Opistognathidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Bahamas south to Venezuela, including Caribbean Sea; Rio de Janeiro south to Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Habitat: marine.
