Species related to Peristedion ecuadorense: [ 1 ] record


ecuadorensis, Peristedion Teague [G. W.] 1961:10, Pl. 1; Fig 2b [Anales del Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Montevideo (Serie 2) v. 7 (no. 2); ref. 9382] Off South Carolina, 32°36'00"N, 77°29'15"W, Albatross station 2624, depth 258 fathoms. Holotype: USNM 133598. Paratypes: USNM 164365 (4). The original locality of off Ecuador resulted from Teague using station data from Albatross hydrographic sta. 2624 rather than from dredging station 2624 (see G. Miller 1967:39 [ref. 7978]). The report by Chirichigno F. & Vélez D. 1998:260 [ref. 24555] from the eastern Pacific is in error: see Miller & Richards 2003:1281 [ref. 27050]. •Valid as Peristedion ecuadorense Teague 1961 -- (Uyeno & Sato in Uyeno et al. 1983:448 [ref. 14275], Miller & Richards 2003:1281 [ref. 27050], McEachran & Fechhelm 2005:75 [ref. 28815], Kawai 2008:24 [ref. 29787], Bussing 2010:1149 [ref. 31065], Lins Oliveira et al. 2015:140 [ref. 37485], Klautau et al. 2020:9 [ref. 37903]). Current status: Valid as Peristedion ecuadorense Teague 1961. Triglidae: Peristediinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Virginia (U.S.A.) south to Brazil, including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine.
