Paratypes: LIUEFS 5654-55 (1, 1), 5946-47 (1, 2); MBML 0598 (1); MNRJ 22003-04 (1, 1); UEFS 1432 (1); UFPB 5149-53 (2, 2, 3, 1, 1), 5155-59 (5, 1, 1, 1, 2); ZUEC 5423 (1). •Valid as Platygillellus brasiliensis Feitoza 2002 -- (Moura & Menezes in Menezes et al. 2003:95 [ref. 27192], Patzner et al. 2009:472 [ref. 30396], Carvalho-Filho 2023:222 [ref. 40480]). Current status: Valid as Platygillellus brasiliensis Feitoza 2002. Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Maranhão south to Bahia (Brazil) endemic. Habitat: marine.

Holotype: LACM 33378-1. Paratypes: (35) FMNH 71828 (1); GCRL 10630, 10631; LACM 31579-80, 32546-1, 32549-3; UA 68-74-1; UCR 119-27 (1), 129-29 (1), 310-35 (2, was 4), 423-52 (5, was 7). Type catalog: Angulo et al. 2015:381 [ref. 35212]. •Valid as Platygillellus bussingi Dawson 1974 -- (Allen & Robertson 1994:225 [ref. 22193], Feitoza 2002:21 [ref. 26524], Patzner et al. 2009:473 [ref. 30396]). Current status: Valid as Platygillellus bussingi Dawson 1974. Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific. Habitat: marine.

quadrocinctus, Gillellus Beebe [W.] & Hollister [G.] 1935:222, Fig. 27 [Zoologica, Scientific Contributions of the New York Zoological Society v. 19 (no. 6); ref. 13873] Union Island, Grenadines, British West Indies, depth 1.5 feet. Holotype (unique): NYZS Antares Exp. no. 180 (missing). Type catalog: Mead 1958:133 [ref. 20648]. Apparently as quadrocintus by typesetting error in main heading on p. 222, correctly as quadrocinctus in caption to Fig. 27. •Synonym of Platygillellus rubrocinctus (Longley 1934) -- (Dawson 1982:62 [ref. 1072]). Current status: Synonym of Platygillellus rubrocinctus (Longley 1934). Dactyloscopidae. Habitat: marine.

rubellulus, Gillelus Kendall [W. C.] & Radcliffe [L.] 1912:148, Pl. 6 (fig. 3) [Memoirs of the Museum of Comparative Zoology v. 35 (no. 3); ref. 14961] San Cristóbal Island [Chatham Island], Galápagos Islands, Albatross. Holotype: USNM 65510. Paratypes: MCZ 29546 (1), USNM 208291 [ex USNM 65510] (2). Type catalog: Springer & Orrell 1996:15 [ref. 22274]. Original genus should have been spelled Gillellus. •Valid as Platygillellus rubellulus (Kendall & Radcliffe 1912) -- (Dawson 1974:42 [ref. 1065], Allen & Robertson 1994:225 [ref. 22193], Grove & Lavenberg 1997:522 [ref. 24023], Herrera & Lavenberg 2002:8 [ref. 25975], Patzner et al. 2009:473 [ref. 30396], McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:193 [ref. 30957] with genus as Platygillelus). Current status: Valid as Platygillellus rubellulus (Kendall & Radcliffe 1912). Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Galápagos Islands (Ecuador). Habitat: marine.

Type catalog: Springer & Orrell 1996:15 [ref. 22274]. •Valid as Platygillellus rubrocinctus (Longley 1934) -- (Dawson 1982:62 [ref. 1072], Robins & Ray 1986:219 [ref. 23100], Cervigón 1994:115 [ref. 24488] as Platigillellus, Feitoza 2002:28 [ref. 26524], Williams 2003:1753 [ref. 27109], Smith et al. 2003:48 [ref. 27621] as Platygillelus, Nelson et al. 2004:162 [ref. 27807], McEachran & Fechhelm 2005:585 [ref. 28815], Patzner et al. 2009:473 [ref. 30396], Page et al. 2013:167 [ref. 32708], Smith-Vaniz & Jelks 2014:66 [ref. 33341], Escobar-Sierra et al. 2021:77 [ref. 38844]). smithi, Platygillellus Dawson [C. E.] 1982:67, Fig. 20 [Bulletin of Marine Science v. 32 (no. 1); ref. 1072] 183 meters off southwest point, Little Inagua Island, Bahamas, 0-7.6 meters. Holotype (unique): AMNH 27215. •Valid as Platygillellus smithi Dawson 1982 -- (Feitoza 2002:28 [ref. 26524], Williams 2003:1753 [ref. 27109], Patzner et al. 2009:473 [ref. 30396]). Current status: Valid as Platygillellus smithi Dawson 1982. Dactyloscopidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Bahamas. Habitat: marine.
