National Museum No. 2; ref. 1848] Off Trinidad Island, West Indies, 11°07'00"N, 62°14'30"W, Albatross station 2120, depth 73 fathoms. Holotype (unique): USNM 39318. The caption to Pl. 112 is wrongly labeled Prionotus trinitatis. •Valid as Prionotus beanii Goode 1896 -- (Miller & Kent 1972:227 [ref. 25695], Uyeno & Sato in Uyeno et al. 1983:445 [ref. 14275], Miller & Richards 1991:760 [ref. 15981], Cervigón 1991:305 [ref. 24472] as beani, Cervigón 1992:452 [ref. 23827], Aguilera 1998:48 [ref. 24221], Richards & Miller 2003:1272 [ref. 27049], Klautau et al. 2020:9 [ref. 37903], Carvalho-Filho 2023:105 [ref. 40480]). Current status: Valid as Prionotus beanii Goode 1896. Triglidae: Prionotinae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Honduras south to Bahia (Brazil), including southern Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine.
