Current status: Valid as Stygnobrotula latebricola Böhlke 1957. Bythitidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Florida (U.S.A.) and Bahamas south to Bahia (Brazil). IUCN (2010): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.

tumidirostris, Eutyx Boeseman [M.] 1960:13, Pl. 2 [Zoologische Mededeelingen (Leiden) v. 37 (no. 2); ref. 11893] Northern part of St. Michiel Bay, Curaçao. Holotype (unique): RMNH 23246 or 12560. In the title of the article the species was spelled tumidifrons, but it appeared as tumidirostris in the text and caption to Pl. 2; first reviser not researched, tumidirostris was selected by Eschmeyer 1998:1711 [ref. 23416]. •Synonym of Stygnobrotula latebricola Böhlke 1957 -- (Cohen & Nielsen 1978:51 [ref. 881], Nielsen & Cohen in Nielsen et al. 1999:111 [ref. 24448]). Current status: Synonym of Stygnobrotula latebricola Böhlke 1957. Bythitidae. Habitat: marine.
