Paratypes: RMNH 25224 (4). •Valid as "Terapon" jamoerensis Mees 1971 -- (Vari 1978:246 [ref. 4514]). •Valid as Varia jamoerensis (Mees 1971) -- (Allen 1991:128 [ref. 21090]). •Valid as Variichthys jamoerensis (Mees 1971) -- (Allen 1993:453 [ref. 21140], Allen et al. 2000:102 [ref. 27467]). Current status: Valid as Variichthys jamoerensis (Mees 1971). Terapontidae. Distribution: Lake Yamur, Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Habitat: freshwater.
