P.] 1939:249, Pl. 20 (fig. 1) [Australian Zoologist v. 9 (pt 3); ref. 4695] 25 miles northeast of Babel Island, Bass Strait, north of Tasmania, Australia, depth 70-100 fathoms. Holotype: AMS E.4970. Paratypes: AMS E.4898-99 (1, 1), E.4973 (1, egg case), E.5491 (1). •Valid as Raja cerva Whitley 1939 -- (Paxton et al. 1989:56 [ref. 12442], Gomon et al. 1994:165 [ref. 22532], Last & Stevens 1994:347 [ref. 23873], Hutchins 2001:15 [ref. 25847]). •Valid as Okamejei cerva (Whitley 1939) -- (McEachran & Dunn 1998:285 [ref. 23312], Compagno 1999:492 [ref. 25589]). •Valid as Dipturus cerva (Whitley 1939) -- (Last & Yearsley 2002:1640 [ref. 26568], Hoese et al. 2006:182 [ref. 29001], Jeong et al. 2007:62 [ref. 29187], Last 2008:53 [ref. 29648], Last & Gledhill 2008:119 [ref. 29561], Last & White 2008:115 [ref. 30618], Last & Alava 2013:214 [ref. 33041], Weigmann 2016:108 [ref. 34211] see remarks). •Valid as Dentiraja cerva (Whitley 1939) -- (Last et al. 2016:16, 20 [ref. 34941], Last et al. 2016:232 [ref. 35000]).
