Holotype: BMNH 1913.12.4.264-273 (1 of 15). Paratypes: BMNH 1913.12.4.264-273 (? now 13), MNHN [ex BMNH] 1989-1208 (1). Type catalog: Desoutter et al. 2001:334 [ref. 25922]. •Valid as Symphurus trewavasae Chabanaud 1948 -- (Kurtz & Matsuura 1994:141 [ref. 22162], Andreata & Séret 1996:590 [ref. 16204], Munroe 1998:71 [ref. 23285], Menezes & Figueiredo in Menezes et al. 2003:108 [ref. 27192], Nión et al. 2016:55 [ref. 35565], Carvalho-Filho 2023:275 [ref. 40480]). Current status: Valid as Symphurus trewavasae Chabanaud 1948. Cynoglossidae: Symphurinae. Distribution: Southwestern Atlantic: Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) south to Argentina. Habitat: marine.
