Holotype (unique): SAIAB [formerly RUSI] 263 [ex AMG]. •Valid as Gobionellus keiensis (Smith 1938) -- (Maugé 1986:371 [ref. 6218]). •Valid as Oligolepis keiensis (Smith 1938) -- (Hoese 1986:796 [ref. 5670]). •Valid as Oxyurichthys keiensis (Smith 1938) -- (Pezold & Larson 2015:14 [ref. 33894], Fricke et al. 2018:336 [ref. 35805], Kovačić et al. 2023:132 [ref. 40094], Larson 2022:164 [ref. 39971]). Current status: Valid as Oxyurichthys keiensis (Smith 1938). Gobiidae: Gobionellinae. Distribution: Western Indian Ocean: KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) to Madagascar and Seychelles; eastern Mediterranean Sea (Red Sea migrant). Habitat: brackish, marine.
