Paralectotypes: BMNH 1899.2.20.30 (1); MRAC 105 (1), 109 (1). Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:314 [ref. 29155]. Lectotype selected by Poll 1971:291 [ref. 7700]. Gender of genus treated by us as masculine. •Valid as Synodontis decorus Boulenger 1899 -- (Poll 1971:290 [ref. 7700], Gosse 1986:124 [ref. 6194], Burgess 1989:195 [ref. 12860], De Vos 2001:48 [ref. 25362], Ferraris 2007:314 [ref. 29155] as decora , Wright & Page 2008:297 [ref. 29628] as decora, Kullander & Roberts 2012:369 [ref. 31751] as decora, Stiassny et al. 2021:1687 [ref. 39000]). Current status: Valid as Synodontis decorus Boulenger 1899. Mochokidae: Mochokinae. Distribution: Western-central Africa: Congo River basin (Democratic Republic of Congo). Habitat: freshwater.
