occidentalis, Torpedo Storer [D. H.] 1843:166, Pl. 3 (figs. 1-2) [American Journal of Science and Arts v. 45 (no. 1) (art. 18); ref. 18832] Wellfleet, Massachusetts, U.S.A., eastern North Atlantic. Holotype (unique): whereabouts unknown. •Synonym of Torpedo nobiliana Bonaparte 1835 -- (Krefft & Stehmann 1973:57 [ref. 7167]). •Synonym of Tetronarce nobiliana (Bonaparte 1835). •Valid as Tetronarce occidentalis (Storer 1843) -- (Carvalho et al. 2016:190 [ref. 34999], Last & Yearsley 2016:4 [ref. 34940], Ehemann et al. 2019:[6] [ref. 36861], Jones et al. 2020:286 [ref. 37610], Page et al. 2023:43 [ref. 40505]). Current status: Valid as Tetronarce occidentalis (Storer 1843). Torpedinidae. Distribution: Western Atlantic: Massachusetts (U.S.A.) south to Venezuela, including Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea. Habitat: marine.
