Th.] 2007:15, Figs. 1-2 (left) [Revue Suisse de Zoologie v. 114 (no. 1); ref. 29116] Brackish water spring Kokosi at southern end of Almiri beach, at Kato Almiri, about 4 kilometers south of Loutra Elenis, 37°50'32"N, 23°00'58"E, Korinthia District, Peloponnese, Greece. Holotype: MHNG 2654.087. Paratypes: CMK 17296 (3); HCMR 1064 (14), 1473 (5). Plus non-type material. •Valid as Aphanius almiriensis Kottelat, Barbieri & Stoumboudi 2007 -- (Kottelat & Freyhof 2007:485 [ref. 29996], Barbieri et al. 2015:94 [ref. 35029], Esmaeili et al. 2018:2 [ref. 36738], Valdesalici et al. 2019:[2] [ref. 36498], Çiçek et al. 2020:258 [ref. 37644], Freyhof & Yoğurtçuoğlu 2020:433 [ref. 37656], Kärst et al. 2020:118 [ref. 38165], Çiçek et al. 2023:442 [ref. 40625], Çiçek et al. 2024:353 [ref. 40789]). Current status: Valid as Aphanius almiriensis Kottelat, Barbieri & Stoumboudi 2007. Aphaniidae. Distribution: Southern Europe: Calabria (Italy), Greece, western Turkey. Habitat: freshwater, brackish.
