Holotype: MNRJ 37509. Paratypes: MNRJ 21997 (55, 1 c&s), MZUSP 160499 (9). The species epithet is a noun in apposition. •Valid as Lepidocharax diamantina Ferreira, Menezes & Quagio-Grassiotto 2011 -- (Thomaz et al. 2015:Add. 5 [ref. 33893], Vita et al. 2020:[5] [ref. 37506], Silva et al. 2020:6 [ref. 37809]). Current status: Valid as Lepidocharax diamantina Ferreira, Menezes & Quagio-Grassiotto 2011. Characidae: Stevardiinae. Distribution: South America: Rio Paraguaçu basin (Bahia, Brazil). Habitat: freshwater.
