Holotype: MNHN 2008-1899. Paratypes: MNHN-2007-1666 (1), -1667 (1), -1668 (1), 2008-1896 (1), -1900 (1); NMNZ P.42738-42 (5); ZSM 38530 [ex MNHN 2008-1898] (1). Plus non-type specimens mentioned in the text. Type catalog: Neumann 2011:258 [ref. 31652]. •Valid as Etmopterus viator Straube 2011 -- (Vásquez et al. 2015:53 [ref. 34111], Last & Stewart 2015:147 [ref. 34224], Weigmann 2016:62 [ref. 34211], Ebert et al. 2021:30 [ref. 38234]). Current status: Valid as Etmopterus viator Straube 2011. Etmopteridae. Distribution: Southwestern Indian Ocean: South Africa to Mozambique; southern Indian Ocean: Kerguelen Plateau; southwestern Pacific: Chatham Rise (New Zealand). Habitat: marine.
