Paratypes: CAS 29105 (10), USNM 212181 (10). •Valid as Cichlasoma zaliosum Barlow 1976 -- (Villa 1982:201 [ref. 36708], Conkel 1993:86 [ref. 22949]). •Valid as Amphilophus zaliosus (Barlow 1976) -- (Burgess 2000:54 [ref. 24818], Stauffer & McKaye 2002:2 [ref. 27240], Kullander in Reis et al. 2003:611 [ref. 27061], McKaye et al. 2002:21 [ref. 27580], Stauffer et al. 2008:117, 127 [ref. 29556], Oldfield 2009:1 [ref. 30478], Stauffer 2010:172 [ref. 30913], Recknagel et al. 2013:209 [ref. 32956] with authorship as Barlow & Munsey, Říčan et al. 2016:37 [ref. 34357], Angulo et al. 2023:50 [ref. 40676]). Current status: Valid as Amphilophus zaliosus (Barlow 1976). Cichlidae: Cichlinae. Distribution: Central America: Lake Apoyo (Nicaragua) endemic. Habitat: freshwater.
