Holotype: CAS-SU 36514. Paratypes: CAS-SU 36515 (3). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:52 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Cynolebias constanciae Myers 1942 -- (Costa 1995:48 [ref. 22097], Costa 1996:130 [ref. 25271], Costa 1998:75 [ref. 23792]). •Valid as Simpsonichthys constanciae (Myers 1942) -- (Lazara 2001:296 [ref. 25711], Costa in Reis et al. 2003:541 [ref. 27061], Costa 2004:6 [ref. 27569], Costa 2007:14 [ref. 29445], Costa & Lima 2010:205 [ref. 31041], in subgenus Ophthalmolebias). •Valid as Ophthalmolebias constanciae (Myers 1942) -- (Loureiro et al. 2018:11 [ref. 36240]). Current status: Valid as Ophthalmolebias constanciae (Myers 1942). Cynolebiidae: Cynolebiinae. Distribution: Coastal plains adjacent to lower rio São João, Atlantic coastal drainage, southeastern Brazil. Habitat: freshwater.
