Paratypes: CAS 39289 (1), 39328 (3), 40404 (3); MGAB uncat. (1); CAS-SU 63563 (3). Possibly the same as Prognathodes falcifer Hubbs & Rechnitzer 1958. •Valid as Prognathodes carlhubbsi Nalbant 1995 -- (Smith et al. 2003:302 [ref. 27125], Sánchez-Jiménez et al. 2018:S8 [ref. 36248]). •Synonym of Prognathodes falcifer (Hubbs & Rechnitzer 1958) -- (McCosker & Rosenblatt 2010:193, footnote [ref. 30957]). Current status: Valid as Prognathodes carlhubbsi Nalbant 1995. Chaetodontidae: Chaetodontinae. Distribution: Eastern Pacific: Galápagos Islands, Malpelo Island (Colombia) and Cocos Island (Costa Rica). Habitat: marine.
