Paratypes: CAS 49497 (1); MZB 3948-50 (1, 1, 1); CAS-SU 35660 (3), 39402 (1), 39404 (11), 39406 (1). •Valid as Mastacembelus notophthalmus Roberts 1989 -- (Kottelat et al. 1993:168 [ref. 23448], Britz 2007:257 [ref. 29343], Kottelat 2013:313 [ref. 32989], Ng et al. 2019:533 [ref. 36606], Ng & Tan 2020:176 [ref. 37671], Hasan et al. 2023:[2] 190 [ref. 40108]). Current status: Valid as Mastacembelus notophthalmus Roberts 1989. Mastacembelidae. Distribution: Southeast Asia: Malaya (Malaysia), Sumatra, Bangka and Belitung (Indonesia). Habitat: freshwater.
