Holotype: CAS 49903 [ex IU 15597] (119 mm). Paratypes: CAS 49904 [IU 15597] (7 of 8). Holotype established in Pl. 8. •Valid as Galaxias globiceps Eigenmann 1928 -- (McDowall 1971:46 [ref. 22864], Pequeño 1989:29 [ref. 14125], Berra & Ruiz 1994:595 [ref. 23153], Berra & Barbour 1998:273 [ref. 23664], Dyer 2000:84 [ref. 26678], McDowall 2001:395 [ref. 25906], Berra in Reis et al. 2003:504 [ref. 27061], Cussac et al. 2004:105 [ref. 27813], Raadik 2014:159 [ref. 33606]). Current status: Valid as Galaxias globiceps Eigenmann 1928. Galaxiidae: Galaxiinae. Distribution: Los Alerces near Puerto Montt, Chile [possibly extinct there]; Cipresal River, Chiloe Island. Habitat: freshwater.
