Summer Undergaduate Internships The California Academy of Sciences actively pursues original scientific research and is committed to fostering a spirit of scientific discovery and stewardship of the natural world. Systematic biology, the focus of the Academy's research, is becoming increasingly important as the understanding of the value of biodiversity grows. Staff in the Academy's eight separate research departments conduct original research, develop and maintain collections, and are directly involved in all educational and outreach activities of the institution.

Academy Fellows The Academy is governed by a distinguished group of eminent scientists who have been appointed Fellows of the California Academy of Sciences in recognition of their notable contributions to one or more of the natural sciences. Nominated by their colleagues and appointed by the Board of Trustees, the Fellows remain members of the Fellowship for life.
The annual fund will provide support in the amount of $5,000 to a graduate student enrolled either at Occidental College or UCLA, or involved with biological research at the California Academy of Sciences. Learn more »
