AEOLIDACEA

Aeolid nudibranchs lack distinct gills and utilize cerata for respiration and defense. In most species the cerata contain branches of the digestive tract, which transport nematocysts acquired from coelenterate prey, to the ceratal tips. The nematocysts are then stored and utilized for the aeolid's defense.
