Curriculum Resources
The Biodiversity Resource Center and the Academy Library contain a variety of natural science curriculum materials including teacher & student guides, sourcebooks, and reference materials.  Many of the materials are available for loan to Academy members.  An annotated curriculum bibliography, separated by grade level and subject is available on the web at:

Bibliographies
A number of bibliographies have been put together by library staff & volunteers.  They include books, children’s books, videos, curriculum, and annotated web site links.  Topics include astronomy, California habitats, and marine mammals as well as bibliographies designed especially for kids.

Manzanita Project Images
Looking for images to use in a lesson or do your students needs pictures for reports or projects?  The Manzanita Project provides access to images of plants, animals, fungi, landscape & habitats, and people & cultures.  The images are free for educational purposes.

Educator Resource Materials (ERMs)
ERMs are activity kits brought to you by the BRC and the Education Division.  Current topics focus on herbivore/omnivore/carnivore structure and function and owl pellet dissection.  ERMs are borrowed from and returned to the Biodiversity Resource Center.

Online Library Catalog
The Academy Library’s online catalog is available 24 hours a day from any computer linked to the Internet.  Find videos, books, journals, and maps that are held in the Academy’s Library.  Items are available for use by the public regardless of Academy membership.

Library Tours, Orientations, & Class Sessions
Librarians are happy to provide you and your students with further information about the Library.  We can arrange instruction in using our library: be a stop on a tour to let students know that we are available to them; or provide resources for your students to work on projects.  Students can visit on their own for research or they can come in groups.  Contact the Library or Biodiversity Resource Center for more information.

Ask-A-Reference Librarian

Video Resources
A list of the Library’s video resources is available in both alphabetical and subject format.  Videos cover a wide range of topics including animals, habitat, ecology, and geology.  These resource are available for loan to Academy members.  An annotated list of children’s videos has also been prepared.  This document contains grade level designations and a description of the video.
